Burkina Faso's ITAOUA has unveiled two brand-new electric car models, the SAHEL and NATIVE. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the country's automotive industry.


According to ITAOUA officials, the SAHEL and NATIVE models boast impressive features, including a range of 330 kilometers on a single 30-minute charge. This innovation is set to revolutionize the country's transportation sector.


Production of the eco-friendly vehicles is expected to ramp up in the coming weeks, with ITAOUA aiming to make the cars more accessible to the local market.


The SAHEL and NATIVE models also feature advanced digital technology, including intuitive touchscreens, offering drivers a seamless and sustainable driving experience.


This development is seen as a major breakthrough for Burkina Faso's automotive industry, showcasing the country's potential for innovation and growth.

The move will affect temporary and contract staff, a bank spokesperson said, with the reduction in the workforce coming from "natural attrition" as projects are completed. Permanent staff are not affected by the cuts. The bank's outgoing chief executive Piyush Gupta also said it expected to create around 1,000 new AI-related jobs.
